The children have worked incredibly hard on their assessments this week. They have all persevered when they have found things difficult and should be very proud of themselves and their achievements. Well done Puffins. Apart from assessments, the Puffins have also filled their week with Tudor houses, planning investigations and creating album covers. Read on to find out more…
This week in English, we started thinking about the features of a diary entry linked to the Christmas Truce of WWII. The Puffins then created their own version of a diary entry focused on this stimulus. The imagery that they have created and the figurative language that has been used throughout this week has really impressed me. Well done Puffins.
In Maths Year 5 have continued with their unit on fractions, thinking about ordering fractions less than 1 and comparing and ordering fractions greater than 1. Can you explain this True or False question to your grown-up?
Year 6 have been converting units of measurement this week. They have converted metric units of measurement and also thought about calculating metric units of measurement. Can you explain this True or False question to your grown-up?
In Art, the Puffins have carried on creating their album covers using a number of different photographic techniques, including macro photography. They created a composition involving layers: landscape, props and also themselves!
We carried on with our topic of the Tudors by thinking about Tudor childhood and learning a little bit of Latin. Something many Tudor children would have had lessons in. We also went for a walk around the village to look at the Tudor houses that we are lucky enough to have in Repton. We thought about the features of these houses and why they were built the way they were.
Maths and English homework was handed out on Tuesday 2nd December and will be due in on Tuesday 9th December. If you have any questions etc about this please let me know.
