WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

WC: 26/1/26

We have had a very busy week this week! Read below to find out what we have been up to...

English

In English we have been developing our writing of non-chronological reports. We started off the week with the class researching information on a phoenix. They made notes on phoenix's appearances, habitats and diets.  We then practiced writing parts of a non-chronological report to develop our use of specific vocabulary.

Later on in the week, we created their own mythical creatures by combining two animals. We had some brilliant ideas and we will be completing our 'Big Writes' on these on Monday.

Maths

This week we have been delving deeper into our learning on fractions. We spent a couple of lessons on looking at the 'whole' and what this looks like in fractions. We used shaded shapes to work out missing fractions and then worked on different ways we can write the whole.

We then moved on to ordering fractions with the same denominators and then ordering fractions with different denominators.

Geography

This week we delved deeper into Iceland as a country, specifically looking at Reykjavik. We studied rain maps of Iceland and compared these to the precipitation levels in the UK.
