WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

WC: 8/12/25

One week left to go! I can’t believe that it’s nearly Christmas! Read below to see what we have been up to...

Maths

This week we have been looking at dividing a 2-digit number by a 1-digit number using short division. We were introduced to remainders and learnt when we need to use them. We then moved on to looking at reasoning questions using remainders and solving questions using multiple steps.

English

This week we have started our final topic of the term which is persuasive adverts! We discussed the features of a persuasive advert and then studied the item the Super Spy Phone! We discussed what features of the SSP make it unique and looked at writing about these using technical language. Later on in the week, we delved into some grammar features, such as using rhetorical questions and hyperbole.

History

This week we have been studying the different types of art found in Ancient Rome and how people made these. This included mosaiques, coins, clay pots and glass vases. We then had a go at drawing examples of Roman art.

PE

In PE we have been looking at different types of dance and this week it was Country and Western. We spent time learning the dance moves and choreographed them to music.

Other exciting parts of the week:

  • We had the pantomime come into school on Tuesday morning to perform Jack and the Beanstalk which the children loved!
  • On Wednesday afternoon, we went down to Repton's 400 Hall to watch the KS1 Christmas Performance which was fantastic!
  • On Friday we had the Book Bus come into school for the children to buy a book.
