Well what a busy week we have had! The children performed two shows this week and they were AMAZING! As a teacher, I am so proud of them and the hard work that they have put into their singing, learning lines, learning actions, and also walking to and from the Repton 400 Hall - it is very exhausting when you have to do that journey multiple times! We also had our School Pantomime on Tuesday, and we have had the Book Bus come to our school on Friday to visit us. We have still done some learning, so look below to find out what we have learning about this week.
Maths
In our Maths learning this week, we have started our new unit on Shape. We have been learning all about 3D shapes and 2D shapes this week. We started by exploring what a 3D shape was, learning that it was a shape that was not flat. We talked about the fact that 3D shapes have 2D shape faces. We learned words such as cube, cuboid, cylinder, pyramid, sphere and cone. We did activities where we had to build towers using 3D shapes, and we had to say what shapes we used. Here are some of our creations!
Here are some shape games that you can also play to practise recognising 2D and 3D shapes!

English
In our English learning this week, we have been creating our persuasive posters to persuade grown-ups to come to our Christmas nativity. On Monday, the children created a plan of what they wanted to tell their parents about. They then customised and wrote their posters, which they took home on Wednesday. They did some awesome, convincing posters!
History
In our History learning, we are onto our last concept of History which is learning about art from 100 years ago. We learnt that a popular art style that originated 100 years ago was called "Cubism", which Pablo Picasso helped to start up. The children practised drawing their faces in the style of Picasso!
Phonics and Spellings
This week in Phonics, we have been recapping tricky words and common exception words in our Phonics. I will not be setting any spellings next week, or for the half-term, as the children have been working so hard and need a well-deserved break!
Christmas Production!
Just a massive thank you to you as parents for providing such wonderful costumes and for your support during this time. Another thank you to any parents that walked to and from the Repton 400 Hall as well.
I know it can be quite an overwhelming time with all the messages and events coming up in the school calendar during the Autumn term, so thank you for your patience and understanding.
Have a lovely weekend!
