Our learning
We have reached the Seals' final half-term at Primary School - Eeek! And what a busy first week of term it has been! It has involved water safety, wellbeing and the first of our play rehearsals!
English -
At the start of the week, we wrote newspaper reports about an event of our choice. Before writing, we looked at existing newspapers to familiarise ourselves with the structure and language used in newspaper reports. Towards the end of the week, we have been planning and writing our own stories. We have individually developed characters, settings and storylines and have worked hard to include as many features in our writing as possible to hook and engage our audience!
PSHE -
We have continued our Being Safe unit of work this week. This has involved: identifying and managing risks in different situations, understanding the importance of water safety (particularly involving open waters), understanding how the use of technology can affect our wellbeing and learning ways to balance offline and online activities, and recognising online risks and behaviours (including harmful content) and knowing how to report concerns. We aim to finish our Being Safe unit next week, meaning we will begin learning our Growing Up objectives.
Residential Awards -
As promised, we celebrated our 'Residential Awards 2025' this week. We announced the winners of 'Tidiest Room', 'Best Behaved Room' and 'Funniest Moment'. The crowned winners each received a sweet and a prize. The winners of our quiz night also received a prize too! It was extremely difficult to choose the winners this year as the children were all splendid throughout the entirety of our trip - Well done Seals!
Homework -
Children have not been given a sheet of homework this week. Instead, we ask that they read at home and practise their spellings/times tables. It is also encouraged that they practise their lines/songs for the Y6 performance.
