Our Learning
We have had yet another fabulous week in Seals class. It has involved Tudor Roses, reincarnation and a 'Hello' from across Europe!
English –
This week, the children have been planning and writing stories aimed at 3-7 year olds. They have been tasked with writing a story for young children that includes feelings and teaches them a valuable life lesson. While it has been hard to change their writing to suit a younger audience, the Seals have been incredibly successful in doing so. I look forward to seeing their published books next week!
Maths –
Year 6 have started their four operations unit of work this week which has involved applying the rules of divisibility, identifying common factors and common multiples, and identifying prime numbers to 100. We will be looking at multiplication next week, with a focus on multiplying 4-digit numbers by 2-digit numbers.
Year 5 have continued their place value unit of work this week. This has involved rounding to the nearest 10, 100 and 1,000 and comparing and ordering numbers to 1,000,000.
History -
This week, we have been learning about the significance of the Tudor Rose. We discussed how it symbolises peace and unity and represents the beginning of the Tudor dynasty. After learning about the importance of the Tudor Rose, the children were tasked with creating their own Tudor Rose. These are now proudly displayed on our Topic wall!

Homework –
Children have been given Maths and English homework this week which relates to what we have been learning about in school. The tasks have been explained in class, but if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. Homework is due in school on Tuesday.
