WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

Week beginning 29.09.25

Our Learning

We have had another incredibly busy week in Seals class! It has involved assessments, illustrations and Mr Men!

English –

This week, the children have enjoyed publishing their children's books. Before they could begin publishing, they did some final editing, making necessary adjustments and adding any finishing touches to improve their writing. They have all worked exceptionally hard on their children's books, taking extreme care with their handwriting and illustrations, and I am proud of each and every one of them as the end results are fab!

Maths –

Year 6 have continued their four operations unit of work this week, with a focus on multiplication. This has involved multiplying a 4-digit number by a 2-digit number and using alternative methods for multiplication.

Year 5 have continued their place value unit of work this week which has involved rounding 100,000 and rounding within 1,000,000!

History -

At the beginning of the week, we familiarised ourselves with famous and important Tudor monarchs. We gathered information about the monarchs and used clues to help us create a Tudor family tree! For our second lesson of the week, we studied a variety of Tudor portraits. We had to analyse each portrait carefully, identifying what the colours, posture, objects, clothing, and more, could suggest about the person in the portrait. Some of us even managed to compare two portraits that we suspected were a contrast of the rich and the poor!

Homework –

Children have been given Maths and English homework this week which relates to what we have been learning about in school. The tasks have been explained in class, but if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. Homework is due in school on Tuesday.

The children completed their first practice SATs papers/assessments this week and they all handled them brilliantly! We have told the children not to stress about these papers or their results (especially as this is a first go and we are only 4 weeks into the year!), but please reassure them of this at home. The results and any development points we find from these assessments will be shared with you during parent consultation meetings.

Have a fantastic weekend,

Miss Bailey
