WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

Week Commencing 31.3.25

We have made it through another big term! Well done Hedgehogs for all your hard work so far throughout the year, and thank you parents for all the support with your child's learning. Read on to find out what we have been learning about this week.

Maths

In our Maths learning this week, we have been learning about how to use number lines up to 50. We have also been learning how we can estimate numbers on a number line when there are no numbers on a number line at all, other than the start and the end of the number line.

Challenge 1 - Look at each of the number lines below. Can you work out what numbers are missing from the numbers line?

Challenge 2 - Can you estimate what numbers could the arrows be pointing to? Remember to find the middle point first?

English

In our English learning, we have started a new stimulus to engage the children in narrative writing. We have been learning the story of 'The Bridge'. You can watch the clip here if you want to watch it at home!

We started by looking at sequencing the story. Here are some pictures below. Can you tell your grown-ups about the story?

We also looked at how there is no speech in the video, and how we could imagine the characters in the video talking. We talked about what questions and exclamations the characters could say in the video. We used question marks and exclamation marks to write sentences.

Geography

This was our last week of learning Geography as we move into our Science unit for the summer. The children have really enjoyed learning all about Kenya and the UK. We finished our last lesson by reflecting on our learning and the question that we had at the start of our Geography unit - "Is Kenya a dream or worry?". The children thought about all the reasons that made Kenya beautiful and amazing to visit, but also things that made them concerned for the people of Kenya. Have a talk at home about what you think about Kenya! What are some of the good bits about Kenya? What are some bits that aren't so good?

Phonics

In our Phonics learning this week, we have been recapping the o_e, u_e, u_e and ar digraphs. Please use the time to read sheets to recap any learning from the week.

Spellings

I have decided not to set spellings for the half-term. Please use this break to spend time with your child and read with your child.

Have a lovely Easter break, and I cannot wait to see you all very soon!
