WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

03.10.2025

In Maths for the first half of this week, we completed our place value unit with a mixture of rounding to 10, 100 and 1,000. On Wednesday, we had a go at our end of unit assessments and we have now started our addition and subtraction unit. We started by adding ones, tens, hundreds and thousands to given numbers.

We have been working on our big writes in English this week. These are our own stories based on the Daisy's Dragons book that we have been reading. We broke up the writing process so we only wrote a couple of paragraphs in each lesson and we have spent time carefully checking the accuracy of our writing. There have been lots of super fronted adverbials and direct speech included in the stories.

We started our week at St Wystan’s church with Tim Norman who led a brilliant workshop about the crypt and the history of Repton in relation to the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings. In our history unit we have started looking at homes and what an Anglo-Saxon house would have looked like and functioned. We will continue this week when we look at settlements at visit Tamworth Castle.

We are getting really good at getting organised in our swimming lessons and all children are already making progress! In PSHE we celebrated what makes us, us and then looked at celebrating qualities in others and in French they continued their unit of school with Mrs Jones.

In RE, we have looked at 2 stories where miracles happened - feeding the 5,000 and walking on water. We considered the thoughts and feelings of the people in the stories. In Science, we looked at the results of our egg experiment. We were quite shocked about the results - particularly with what happened to the egg that was in orange juice. Seeing the impact that liquids had on the eggs, has helped us to understand the importance of brushing our teeth even more to prevent tooth decay.
