We have had such a great week, Kingfishers! You have worked so incredibly hard. Well done
Maths
We have started our new topic this week which is looking at measuring and mass. We looked at grams and kilograms and discussed that 1kg= 1000g. The children then answered reasoning questions on mass.
English
We have been looking at 'Soar.' We are going to write a newspaper report on it.
The story begins with a young girl called Mara. A thirteen-year-old who dreams of one day becoming an airplane designer. But every day, she test flies her model airplanes in the fields behind her house and every day, they crash. Perhaps the saying if at first you don't succeed try and try again is her motto!
One day, after yet another unsuccessful flying attempt, Mara sits gloomily at a picnic table, trying to come up with new ideas. Suddenly, inspiration hits her on the head – literally. A tiny 5-inch-tall boy and his fantastical flying machine drop out of the sky.
She realizes that he is in trouble: his flying ship is broken, and the rest of his fleet is leaving without him. Now Mara must use every ounce of inspiration she has to fly her new friend back home – before it’s too late!
Art
We looked at different examples of sculptures and thought about how we could make our own. We used pieces of cardboard and thought about how we could connect them together without using glue or tape.
PSHE
February is LGBT+ month! We celebrated different kinds of family and looked at the story 'And Tango Makes Three.' The children loved looking at Roy and Silo sitting on their egg and patiently waiting for it to hatch.
We looked at different LGBT+ celebrities and discussed how people's differences should be celebrated!
