Our Learning
We have had an extremely busy week in Seals class! It has involved trade, peace and another round of practise papers!
English -
We have begun our new unit of work this week: non-chronological reports. Our stimulus for this new unit of learning is Canada, giving the children the opportunity to showcase their Geography learning through an extended piece of writing. So far, we have explored the structural and language features used in non-chronological reports and had a go at writing an informative paragraph about a popular city.
Maths -
We have started our area and perimeter unit of work this week, looking at shapes with similar area. We will continue this work next week, learning how to find the area and perimeter for a variety of shapes.
Geography -
In Geography this week, we explored Canada's natural resources, economy and trade links. We discussed which natural resources Canada has access to and why, and understood how each of these contribute to Canada's wealth. We explored goods that Canada export to various countries and even identified their strongest global trade links and the importance of these. To present our facts and findings, we created a quiz containing 6-8 questions!
Homework -
Children have not been given any Maths or English home to take home this week. Instead, we ask that they practise their spellings, times tables and read at home as much as possible. Homework will resume next week.

As mentioned, the children have completed their third set of practise SATs papers this week and I am so proud of each and every one of them! Despite it being their first week back, they all tackled the assessments with the most incredibly positive attitude and mindset and, having marked most of the papers already, it is clear to see their hard work and efforts are paying off - Well done Seals! :)
Have a brilliant weekend,
Miss Bailey
