WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

04.04.2025

This week, we have finished our Brazil topic with a fascinating lesson on the evolution of the Brazilian flag. We loved learning about its changes and were very shocked that for four days only it looked very similar to the American flag, although yellow and green! We were also expert film makers and filmed our final stop motion animation features – I have never seen so many glass ducks! The Otters did a brilliant job of copying the style and using lots of pictures with small changes. The results were spectacular! Due to it being Autism Awareness Month, the Otters did a special lesson of PSHE all about celebrating what makes us different and we looked at some famous people who have autism. We have also finished our music unit on ‘Fresh Prince of Bel Air’.

In Maths, Year 4 have been completing their unit on fractions and Year 5 have been continuing with their work on perimeter and area. We have been working out the area of rectangles, compound shapes and then we have applied our knowledge to estimate the area of some quite tricky shapes!

In English, we have been retelling the story of 'The Catch'. We have been working on punctuating speech correctly and including speech to move on the action of the story. I have been very impressed with the writing. The children have done a super job at retelling the story and including the correct punctuation for speech.

Homework:

Year 4 - Year 3 and 4 statutory spellings (week 12)

Year 5 - Year 5 and 6 statutory spellings (week 12)

We hope that you have a lovely Easter break with your families.
