WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

07.11.2025

The Otters have all settled really well since returning from the half term break.

In Maths, we completed our unit on area and we have started our new unit which is multiplication and division. We are going to be looking really carefully at the relationship between the numbers of the multiplication tables to hopefully build confidence in reciting times tables. We learnt that if the sum of the digits of a number equal a multiple of 3 then we know that it is also a multiple of 3.

In English, we are looking at instruction texts which we are basing on "How to Train Your Dragon". We have generated useful vocabulary for the unit and used a thesaurus to up-level our vocabulary. We have read a model text and identified the features of an instruction text and we also looked at time conjunctions.

We started the week off with a brilliant swimming lesson where the children learned lots of safety skills for how to be safe in the water and help if anything was to go wrong. They all listened fantastically and joined in sensibly – well done, Otters! We have also started our new unit in art: painting! We had a go at using black to create shades and white to create tints. We will continue this next week where we learn to add dimension to paintings.

We have started our next topic in History which is Vikings. We have looked at the timeline of key events. We have also thought about how Vikings started as raiders, became invaders and then settlers. We looked at where the came from, how they travelled in longships and where in Britain they settled.
