This week in Maths in Year 5, we have been multiplying and dividing decimals by 10, 100 and 1000. We have been using place value charts to help us with this and we have been thinking really carefully about which way our digits need to move and how many places. In Year 4, we have been making comparisons busing bar charts and pictograms. We have also been interpreting and drawing line graphs.

In English, we completed our balanced arguments where we considered whether the fox should have stolen the moon or not. We were very impressed with the writing. Well done Otters! We have also started our research projects. Everyone has chosen a planet to research and we will be presenting our findings on some A2 paper over the next week. The interest and enthusiasm is really great to see. There has also been some wonderful team work in Otters where the children have really helped and supported each other to find information. 

In RE this week we were responding to scenarios how we think Jesus would have. It turns out some of us have very different ideas to him but they were able to explain their ideas wonderfully - lots of great discussions! In Computing we learned about RAM and CPUs and how the Mars Rovers were limited in terms of their processing abilities. We then pretended to be a Mars Rover on a space mission and had to go on a mission to collect data but could only do 4 steps per day! In art we have started our final piece for our space theme and will complete these next week. Finally, they had a wonderful Tuesday afternoon with Mrs Jones and continued their music as well as doing an athletics lesson.

On Thursday and Friday afternoon, we have been working on our space themed DT projects. We worked together to hand out the equipment and then we spent time cutting down our wooden dowels to make sure they were the right size. We will continue with these next week.
