WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

12.12.25

Christmas has well and truly arrived this week in Foxes class! The children have enjoyed making baubles, watching films and singing Christmas songs! Read on to find out more…

In English this week the children finished writing their diary entries about the Christmas Day truce during World War I. I was so impressed with the empathy they displayed through their writing. They remembered to include all the features of a diary, including first person, past tense and informal language. The children really showed an understanding of how it must have felt to wake up in the trenches on Christmas day and what a relief it must have been to have a truce that day.

We also started our new stimulus ‘How to steal Christmas!’ Using the film ‘The Grinch’ as inspiration, we will be writing a set of instructions to teach others how to steal Christmas! We started off by watching the film and making notes to help us with our writing. We then had a go at writing a range of questions, commands and statements through dictation – we are getting much better at including the correct punctuation in our sentences!

In History, we have been rounding off our ‘Tudors’ topic by creating a double-page-spread to showcase everything we have learnt. We will continue our work on these next week.

On Thursday the children created some beautiful Christmas decorations! Hopefully these find their way onto your trees this week!

Homework –

Children have not been given any homework this week. Instead, they have been given their practice papers to take home and look over. If children need any further support with these, please do not hesitate to email. Children are encouraged to read and practise their spellings/times tables alongside this.
