This week has been very exciting as Mrs Taylor has started to spend some time with the Otters ready for her taking over on Monday 24th!
In English, we have been looking at rhetorical questions to help us to write our introduction for our instruction texts. We have also been using adjectives and adverbs to add detail to our instructions. We have been sequencing instructions and we have planned our ideas ready for our big write next week.
In Maths, we have continued with multiplication and division. We have looked at the 3, 6 and 9 times tables in lots of detail now. We have really explored the relationships between them and we now have lots of strategies that can help us to identify multiples. We have been exploring arrays and thinking about fact families.
We have been busy creating shades and tints so make an object look 3D in art, starting our ‘Journey’ unit in RE by drawing our life journeys and learning about variables in computing. We started music this week and the children are learning ‘Mamma Mia’ by Abba! On Tuesday we also had a brilliant discussion around Remembrance Day and what the poppy means and why we have our minutes silence at 11 O’clock, on the 11th day of the 11th month.
In topic, we have been learning about what life was like for Viking children. We have looked at some secondary sources to help us write fact files and a diary entry from the point of view of a Viking child.
With it being anti bullying week this week, in PSHE, we participated in the BBC live lesson. We worked through the challenges to explore our own unique powers from courage and kindness to speaking up and including others. The children all wrote their own anti-bullying pledges where they thought carefully about how they can use their own powers for good. There were so many brilliant and thoughtful ideas.
For homework this week, the children have got a writing activity where they need to include time conjunctions. We need to keep working on and thinking about including commas after our fronted adverbials. They have also still got some times tables to look at. The focus is on 3, 6 and 9 - just as we have been working on in class.
