We have been busy completing our end of year assessments this week. The Otters have all worked so sensibly and they have coped very well in this heat. We are very proud of them!
In English, we have written our Sci-fi stories and we have just been so impressed with all of the writing! We have had a real focus on making sure that we write accurately and with the correct punctuation. Everyone had thought so carefully about the plan for their story and they have all taken on board individual feedback.
In Year 5 Maths, we have been translating shapes with coordinates. This has been a little tricky but we are getting the hang of noticing which coordinate moves in which direction. We have also been looking at lines of symmetry, ready to work on reflections next week. In Year 4, we have been continuing to write money using decimals and converting between pounds and pence.
This week in computing we had our final micro:bit lesson where we applied variables to our code to create a polling program. It was tricky to do but we persevered and all managed to complete the code! In Art we have been looking at Teis Albers and created collagraph plates for printing. We created our backgrounds and then added further detail with oil pastels.
In Science, we have been looking at the planets in our solar system. We have drawn sketches of the solar system and we have also been looking at and comparing the geocentric model and the heliocentric model. In PSHE, we have been discussing healthy and unhealthy relationships. In PE, we started to look at some of the skills that we need for rounders.
