All the Foxes have worked incredibly hard this week as we have completed our termly assessments. I am very proud of all of them 😊
After our assessments had been completed, the Year 4 children continued their learning about fractions. This week we have been learning how to convert mixed numbers into improper fractions and vice versa. Many of the children mastered this concept quickly.
The Year 5s finished off their ‘fractions, decimals and percentages’ unit and started a new unit on perimeter, area and volume!
In English, we have continued learning about the book ‘The Great Kapok Tree’. The children have been practising using inverted commas to show speech as well as using a range of different verbs for ‘said’. We have also started learning about persuasive features. This will support our writing next week as the children will be writing a persuasive letter to logging companies to persuade them to stop the mass cutting down of trees.
In Science, we have been learning about life cycles and comparing the similarities and differences between 2 chosen life cycles. In Geography, we have been learning all about the incredible carnivals they have in Brazil and we learnt about their national dish: Feijoada! In PSHE, we thought carefully about the difference between banter and bullying. The children we able to recognise the difference between the two.
Friday was Red Nose Day, the children enjoyed dressing up in red, spots and Red Nose Day outfits! Thank you to all who donated!
I look forward to seeing all the parents at Parents Evening next week!
