WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

24th Jan

We have had a brillaint week in the Otters again. It's been a busy one.

In English, we have used our clip 'The Black Hat' as a stimulus to write 3 different pieces of writing. We started the week researching animals in the rainforest and writing a factfile on our chosen animal. We then thought about whether it is right to keep animals in zoos. We had a debate on this and the children conducted themselves fantastically. We then used our ideas to write a persusaive letter to either keep zoos open or close them. Then for our final day, we have written a blurb to go with the video clip 'The Black Hat'. This has concluded our work on this topic.

In Maths, we have carried on with the formal method for division and looked at most efficent methods. These included using factors, partitioning, numberlines or the bus stop method. We then finished with an assessment to complete the topic.

We have learned about the features of a river and rainforest this week while looking at physical geographical features. We really enjoyed learning about the different animals that live in each layer of the rainforest and linked this in to our fact file writing on Tuesday about an Amazonian insect or bird.

We continued clothing in French and used the verb ‘porter’ to mean ‘to wear’ – Mrs Cotton was very impressed by our French knowledge and speaking!

In PE, we have been practising different rolls, which were quite challenging. A good effort from everyone.

Have a lovely weekend.
