We have had another incredible week in Foxes class! It has involved Tudor Roses, Fossil Evolution and some amazing story telling!
In English this week, the children have been planning and writing stories aimed at 3-7 year olds. They have been tasked with writing a story for young children that includes feelings and teaches them a valuable life lesson. While it has been hard to change their writing to suit a younger audience, the Foxes have been incredibly successful in doing so. Next week we will be publishing our book! Including our very own illustrations!
In Maths, Year 5 have continued learning about Place Value. This week we have been focusing on comparing and ordering numbers to 1,000,000 as well as rounding to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000.
In Year 6, they have begun their work on the 4 operations which involved them thinking about the rules of divisibility, identifying common factors and common multiples and identifying prime numbers to 100. Next week they will be looking at multiplying 4-digit numbers by 2-digit numbers.
In History, the children have been learning about the significance of the Tudor Rose and what it represents. The children learnt about the houses of York and Lancaster and how the Tudor Rose is the bringing together of the two. The children were then tasked with making their own Tudor Roses!
European Day of Languages
The 26th September marks the European Day of Languages, a day to celebrate and embrace all the different languages spoken across Europe! The children learnt how to say ‘hello’ in different European languages and were amazing at recognising different European flags! We ended the lesson by designing our own symbols to represent this wonderful day!
School Council Reps!
This week, the children voted for who they would like to represent our class in our school council this year. Well done to both Theo and Eleanor who earned the roles!
Homework –
Children have been given Maths and English homework this week which relates to what we have been learning about in school. The tasks have been explained in class, but if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. Homework is due in school on Tuesday 30th September.
