It has been a very busy week in Kingfishers. We have had Science Week, assessments and theatre performances. Read below to see what we have been doing...
Science Week
The theme for this year's Science Week was Change and Adapt. On Tuesday we looked at different scientists and discussed why they were important. We looked at Jane Goodall and the incredible work she did with gorillas, Kathrine Johnson and the changes she made to NASA and Mary Anning's incredible contributions to fossils.
Later on in the week, Kingfishers swapped classrooms with Owls and they completed an experiment on how camel's feet adapt to walk on sand.
Today we looked at hedgehog homes and how these are very important to help hedgehogs hibernate over the Winter months. We then designed our own hedgehog homes.
English
We completed our 'Big Writes' on newspaper reports. We are now looking at instruction texts. We discussed the features found in a set of instructions. These include a title, equipment list, numbers or bullet points, fronted adverbials and imperative verbs.
Maths
We have finished looking at measurement so next week we will be moving on to looking at fractions of amounts.
Thank you to those that walked down with Kingfishers to the 400 Hall at Repton on Thursday! We had a lovely time watching The Addams Family and the children loved it!
