What a busy week! Well done on your hard work Kingfishers!
English
In English this week we have been developing our poetry writing and planning our own poems based off 'The Magic Box.' Each stanza needed to include a reality, fantasy and memory and the class worked hard to come up with their own ideas such as, a sunset on the beach, the scale from a mermaid's tail and the sound of boots crunching on leaves. We then put these ideas into our poetry format and worked on using paragraphs.
Maths
In maths we have now started our new topic on angles. This week we have looked at right angles and then compared these to acute and obtuse angles. The class worked hard on comparing different size angles and could explain why certain angles are smaller or bigger than a right angle.
DT
In DT we have started looking at bee hotels and how to build these. This week we created a questionnaire which focused on a range of different questions- multiple choice, tick boxes and explanations. We then looked at who our client was for the bee hotels and what they are looking for.
Spellings
Our new spellings are:
chef, chalet, machine, brochure, crochet, ricochet, parachute, moustache, chaperone, sachet
Alternative spellings:
friend, school, push, house, were, some, come, where
Over the weekend, please ensure you read with your child and update their reading diaries. Homework is due in on Thursday 26th June.
