WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

WC: 17/11/25

It's been a very chilly week! Read below to see what we have been up to in Kingfishers!

Maths

In our Maths learning, we have been learning about multiplication. We started off by seeing if we could count in 3s and 4s. We practiced lots of fluency questions, using groups to help us work out multiplication questions.

For example, 5 x 3=

(5 groups of 3)

We then moved on to looking at bar models and how we could these to help develop our times tables. We even tried writing our down worded problems to match bar models.

Towards the end of the week, we looked at the 8 times table and next week will be looking at dividing by 8.

English

We started off the week by looking at different powerful verbs we could use in our writing. We discussed what words we could use instead of 'saw' or 'looked' and came up with a range of words, such as, peered, glimpsed and spotted. We then came up with powerful verbs for the word 'walked', such as, stumbled, dashed, snook. The children worked hard to incorporate these words into their own writing.

Later on in the week, we looked at a new setting- an underwater treasure chest! We used our senses to imagine what this would look like, sound and feel like.

 History

This week we have been looking at Queen Boudicca and why she was significant in the build up to Roman Britain. We discussed why Boudicca was angry with the Roman emperor, Nero, and what she did to get revenge.
