In maths, we started our new unit: Multiplication and Division. This week, we have been recognising and making equal groups. Are these groups equal? Explain how you know:
We then made equal groups of our own by drawing or using counters. Can you makes these equal groups at home?:
Two equal groups of 5.
Three equal groups of 2.
Five equal groups of 6.
We then learnt how to write repeated addition sentences to represent our equal groups. Show someone at home how to do this:
On Thursday, we then learnt how to write multiplication sentences using the x symbol using our repeated additions and pictures. For example: 2 + 2 + 2 is the same at 3 x 2. Show someone at home:
In English, we wrote our own journey tales using our plans from Friday. We thought about our own ideas for our introduction, build-up, problem, resolution and ending. Can you remember any of your ideas? Who was your main character? What did they find? Where did they go? Who did they meet? What went wrong? We then edited these using our writing toolkit. They should be super proud of their brilliant stories!
In topic, we used an atlas to name and locate Australia’s six states and two territories. Can you remember any using the map below?
We also had a visit from Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Services. We learnt how to keep safe in the house, what to do if there is a fire and even practiced 'stop, drop and roll'! We also learnt about the real Dexter the dog and his job. Take a look at some of our pictures below:
