Good afternoon everyone,
Firstly, I'd like to say a HUGE thank you to the children for their hard work this week and for making me feel so welcome. The Owls are a lovely class and I'm thoroughly looking forward to working with them until the end of the academic year.
This week, the children have been learning about money in Maths - specifically how to count pounds and pence, comparing amounts and solving addition and subtraction money problems. Some of the children found counting pounds and pence to find the total a little tricky (see example below), so if your child could access the quizzes I have assigned to them on Ed Shed that would be fantastic.
In Year 2, pupils are not expected to write totals in decimal form - instead, they write it as: £23 and 8p.
We started our new Writing Unit in English, using the stimulus 'Spy Fox'. Eventually, the children will write newspaper reports so this week we have looked at the key features of a newspaper report along with their purpose and audience.
In Science, we started to learn about 'Living Things and their Habitats', where we focused on the seven life processes using the acronym 'MRS GREN'.
Have a lovely weekend.
Miss Kaylor
