We have had a super first week back!
In maths, we have started our new unit of work: Fractions! We have been learning to find half, quarters and thirds of an amount. We know that the top number is called the 'numerator' and the bottom number is called the 'denominator'. When we find half an amount, we know that we share an amount equally into two parts. When we find quarters, we share into four parts, and when we find thirds we share into three parts. Show someone at home what you can do:
In English, we have introduced a video stimulus which will inspire our writing over this half-term. Can you tell someone about the video? What happened? We then completed some work recapping using the suffixes -er and -est, commands and statements and questions and exclamation sentences. We will be using these features within our writing over the next few weeks when we complete our persuasive writing.
In geography, we have been exploring the Australian city, Sydney. We identified the human features of Sydney and used a map to locate them. Can you remember some of the places we looked at?
We then compared Sydney to London. Can you remember some similarities and differences between them?
