How are we already at the end of another half term?! The children have worked incredibly hard, learnt so much and are well deserving of a restful half term break. This week has involved grammar, waste and a whole load of cardboard!
In English this week, the children have revisited numerous grammatical concepts including active/passive voice, conjunctions, direct speech and demarcating sentences. We have completed tasks centred around these concepts with a focus on neat handwriting and accuracy in grammar, punctuation and spelling.
Year 5 have continued their fractions unit of work in Maths. This has involved using fractions as operators, finding the whole and finding fractions of amounts.
Year 6 have started their fractions, decimals and percentages work this week. This has involved finding decimal and fraction equivalents, recognising fractions as divisions and understanding percentages.
In Geography this week, the children have worked hard to build their own version of the Great Wall of China. The children have worked in groups, taking their time to carefully plan and build a structure that is sturdy and realistic. It is safe to say the children enjoyed this week's topic task!
Children have not been given a sheet of English or Maths homework to complete over the half-term. Instead, we ask that they revise any elements of learning they have found challenging. We encourage children to please read and access TTRockstars/Spelling Shed alongside this.
