WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

Week beginning 01.12.25

Our Learning

We have had another wonderful week in Seals class. It has involved assessment, enquiry, Latin, and an educational walk around the village!

English –

The Seals have worked incredibly hard this week, planning their own diary entries based on the Christmas Truce, 1914. They put themselves in the shoes of a soldier during that time period, thinking carefully about the various emotions they would've felt during that day. We will be writing our diary entries next week.

Maths -

Year 6 have finished their converting units work this week. This has involved converting between miles and kilometres, and using imperial measures. We will be introducing the children to ratio before the Christmas holidays.

Year 5 have continued their fractions unit of work this week. This has involved ordering and comparing fractions less than 1 and greater than 1.

History -

In our first history lesson this week, we discussed Tudor childhood. We spoke about how childhood was different for different groups of children, and compared childhood then to childhood today. As Tudor children studied Latin, we completed a challenge where we had to pair English words with their Latin equivalents. While the children weren't successful in identifying all of the words, they gave the challenge a great go! In our second lesson this week, we identified features of Tudor homes. To support our understanding, we took a stroll around the village to look at some Tudor houses and compare them to the modern houses built today. After learning about the features of Tudor homes, we produced some writing, with some of us acting as an estate agent trying to sell a Tudor home!

Homework -

Children have been given a piece of Maths and English homework this week which relates to the learning we have been doing in school. The task has been explained in class, but if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Homework is due in school on Tuesday 9th December 2025.
