Our Learning
We have had another fantastic week in Seals class! It has involved blood, tenses and album covers!
English –
At the beginning of the week, we completed our 'Terrible Tudors' unit of work. This involved having a structured debate about whether Henry VIII was a good king or not, and writing limericks about famous Tudor people. Towards the end of the week, we introduced the children to our next writing stimulus: War Game. During our first lesson, we watched a video about the Christmas Truce of 1914 and answered questions to confirm our understanding. Following this, we thought of ways to describe No Man's Land, using figurative language and the five senses to paint a clear picture of what it would be like to be there at this time. After creating a bank of descriptive words and phrases, the children wrote fantastically detailed setting descriptions - Well done Seals!

Maths -
Year 6 have completed their fractions unit of work this week. This has involved finding a fraction of an amount, finding the whole, and revising all of the many methods/rules we have learnt during our fractions unit. We have now moved on to converting units which, this week, has focused on converting and calculating with metric measures.
Year 5 have also continued their fractions work this week. This has included converting fractions from improper to mixed number and vice versa. Year 5 will carry on with their fractions work next week.
History -
Our first Tudor history lesson this week focused on Tudor jobs. We discovered all of the weird and wonderful jobs people did during this time period before choosing a job to 'apply' for. We considered which of the Tudor jobs we would most like to do and explained how the skills we have make us suitable for this job. Our second history lesson this week was all about crime and punishment. We found out what crimes would take place during the Tudor period and discovered some of the brutal punishments that would be given to those who committed a crime. After learning about the various crimes and punishments, we decided which punishment was most suitable for each crime and explained our reasons for this.

Homework –
Children have been given a piece of Maths and English homework this week which relates to the learning we have been doing in school. The task has been explained in class, but if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. The children are encouraged to read at home and practice their spellings/times tables alongside this.
Homework is due in school on Tuesday 2nd December 2025

We look forward to beginning our Christmas celebrations once the assessments are over!
