We have had a very science-filled week this week with it being British Science week! See photos our our activity below, and find out what else we have learned about this week below.
Maths
In our Maths learning, we have been doing some quite tricky learning. We have been learning to find out how we can get 2 addition and 2 subtraction facts from a single picture. Here is an example of how we can do this;
Can you find two addition and subtractions facts for the below ten frames?
English
In our English learning, we have been started our new genre which is all about letter writing. We looked at a letter that we received from Zahra to identify what a letter looks like. We learned all the different features of a letter such as the address, date, greeting, introduction, main body, conclusion and close. Can you see one of your grown-up's letter and find these features?
We also looked at how we can use conjunctions to add extra information. We learned how we can use 'because' and 'but' to add additional information.
Geography
In our Geography learning this week, we have been learning about Kenya's past and how the UK is involved in Kenya. We learned that the UK had been unkind to Kenya in its history. Can you remember any events that had happened in Kenya's history?
Science
As part of British Science Week, we have been doing science activities throughout the week to engage the children to think about science and scientists. The children have been immersed in activities all to do with the theme of 'Adapt and Change'. We also looked at the famous British scientists who have/had contributed to society such as Jane Goodall and Sir John Houghton. We have created wormeries, been on a Spring walk, and we did a carousel afternoon where the Hedgehogs got to do science with myself, and with Mrs Riley. Here are some photos below!
Spellings and Phonics
In our Phonics, we have been recapping sounds that have been previously taught. The children recapped the double consonants ff, ll, ss, zz. We also recapped the tch trigraph.
Have a lovely weekend!
