We have had a fantastic week in Hedgehogs! One more week until the Easter break! Look below to find out what we have been up to this week.
Maths
In our Maths learning, we have continued our learning on numbers up to 50. We have been looking at how we can count in groups of ten and groups of ones. We learned that it is easier to count numbers first by counting the tens first, then count the ones afterwards. Here is a question you can do with your grown-up to help practise groups of tens and ones.
We have also learned this week how we can partition numbers up to 50 into tens and ones. You can practise counting tens and ones by playing this place value basketball game! I also have a tricky problem below that you and your grown-up could have a go at too!
English
In our English learning this week, we have been writing persuasive letters to Mr Tague, asking him to help raise money to help some of the issues of Kenya, the children have written incredible letters, which Mr Tague will have the chance of reading next week. Well done Hedgehogs!
Geography
In our Geography learning, we have been learning about the differences between Kenya and the UK. We have been learning about how the UK and Britain, although are in two different continents, have a lot of similarities in terms of physical features and human features. Have a look at the Venn diagram below, and the list of features that are below. What features do you think are in the UK? Which ones do you think are in Kenya? Which ones do you think both have?
We also looked at the weather in Kenya and how the weather and seasons are different to the UK. We learned that Kenya has two wet seasons, but it is still hot throughout, whereas the UK is temperate and has four seasons with various weathers throughout the year. Can you look at the grid below to find out what months are the rainy seasons? Which month is the hottest?
Phonics and Spellings
This week, we have been recapping the split digraphs a_e, i_e, o_e and e_e. Please use the Time to Read sheets to recap any sounds taught this week.
It was lovely to meet many of you at Parents Evening. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at hedgehogs@repton-pri.derbyshire.sch.uk.
Have a lovely weekend!
