WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

15.05.2026

In Maths this week, we have been working our way through our time unit. We have been converting to and from the 24 hour clock and the children are really getting the hang of this!

In English, we have completed our Spy Fox stories and we have started a new unit based on a book called "The Dot". The children were all quite frustrated with me when I gave them a lined paper and their only instructions were to create something original. The idea behind this was to get the children to feel some of the emotions that Vashti felt in the story. This worked better than I had hoped and the children could really empathise with the character who had struggled in her art lesson. This allowed us to generate and uplevel vocabulary that we will be able to use in our writing. We are going to be writing metaphor poems next week so the homework this week is based on metaphors.

In RE, we thought about what makes us happy. It was so good to hear so many of the children talking about how exercise makes them happy. This leant really well to our PE this week which was the Joe Wicks workout for metal health week. We had some really good discussions about how good exercise is for both our bodies and our minds.
