Maya Workshop

We were so lucky to be visited by Dr Diane today. She is the only Maya archaeologists in the UK! She showed us so many amazing clips of her time in the rainforest and we were able to listen to the sounds of the jungle and its wildlife. We were particularly shocked by the howler monkey! We learnt how she pieces together information through excavation and evidence from the past. We were able to look very closely at her artefacts and made some great guesses as to what we thought they were made of and what we thought they were used for. She also introduced us to the Maya number system and we got the chance to make some Maya calendars. Everyone listened so carefully and participated so enthusiastically. Well done Otters!
