We have reached Week 3 and it has been filled with Puffin Archaeologists, ordering numbers to 1000 and writing some beautifully detailed narrative setting descriptions. Read on to find out more…

In English this week, the Puffins carried on planning their narrative setting introductions. They immersed themselves into a stone age cave and imagined what they could see, hear and feel. The children used their knowledge of expanded noun phrases and adverbs to create wonderfully descriptive sentences which allowed the reader to fully imagine they were in a stone age cave. There was even some rather graphic description of the smells of the animals!

Within Maths, we have compared and ordered numbers to 1000. We used number lines to help us do this and thought about the values in each place value column to help us. Can you explain this True or False question to your grown-up to show them how much you have learnt…

Art saw the Puffins learn about the different ways that we can shade using a sketching pencil. This will allow them to continue developing their skills to create still life pieces.

Topic saw us becoming archaeologists. The Puffins had to decipher what Stone Age artefacts were both made out of and used for. We learnt that they were very inventive when it came to using basic things like plants and that none of the animals that they hunted went to waste!

Our Spelling shed pattern this week focuses on the Long O sound and as usual will be on spelling shed. With a quiz linked to our Maths learning this week on Maths shed.
