Every week we will post a little something which will keep you informed of your child's learning. In bold font, there will be some questions for you to ask your child if you wish which follows on from their learning at school. 

This week, children have been learning about flexible partitioning and using part whole models to demonstrate representing numbers in this way. For example, showing that 85 could be 70 + 15 or 60 + 25 or 50 + 35 (and so on!). Children have then written 4 number sentences using the numbers given on the model. Can you share 3 more number sentences from this one: 55 = 40 + 15

In English this week, we have been focusing on our big write which has been to create our own wanted posters using expanded noun phrases, capital letters for names and also included questions marked by question marks.  When do I need to use capital letters in writing? Could you give a few examples of when you have used them in your big write this week?

In P.E. we have been learning how to skip! This is a tricky skill so we have are breaking it down into small steps to build confidence. Children have also been learning how to improve their fitness levels and how to jog for a longer length of time, thinking carefully about speed and slowing down in order to keep going.

In computing, children have been learning about what information is safe to share online. As a class they discussed whether the following would be safe to share online: age, address, full name, hobbies, pet names and date of birth. Which of these did you decide was not safe to share with people that we don't know online?

Reminders for the term ahead:

Reading Books
Books will be changed every Tuesday. Please bring reading diaries and books everyday. Please re-read phonics books at home to help build fluency. Spellings will start after our Meet the Teacher meeting. 

PE Days
PE will take place every Tuesday and Thursday. Children should come to school wearing their PE kit on these days.
