In bold font, there are some questions for you to ask your child if you wish which follows on from their learning at school.
This week, children have been learning about adding 3 1 digit numbers together and thinking about different strategies to do it in the most effective way. This knowledge can help support them when they are working with more complex calculations. For example, 3 + 8 +7 and finding the bond to 10 first. So they would start with 3 + 7 = 10 and then add the 8 onto that! Can you add these 3 1 digit numbers together?: 5 4 5 Can you make your own up which includes a bond to 10? What 3 digits can you add together to make the answer ‘14’?
In English this week, children have written some beautiful stories based on the story One Snowy Night. They had all sorts of ideas for the time of day - sunny mornings, autumnal afternoons, stormy evenings - and planned different animals who visited Percy. The children used some exciting verbs throughout their writing as well to describe the action that was taking place. Can you retell your story to your adults doing the actions for the noises the animals made when they knocked on Percy's door?

We hope you have a wonderful week off; your children have worked so hard in their first half term in year 2 and should be feeling very proud of themselves! We will see you on Tuesday 3rd November!
Thank you!
