What a crazy week we have had in Foxes class! It has involved stories, SATs and more!
In English we continued writing and editing our creative stories this week. There are a few finishing touches to be made but the children have amazed me with the level of description in their work already! For our next extended write, we will be writing a newspaper report. If you can, buy a newspaper from the shop and have a read to familiarise yourself with the layout and language features used in report writing.
In Maths, Year 5 have been very busy calculating angles, looking at lengths and angles in shapes, identifying regular and irregular polygons, and understanding the names and properties of various 3-D shapes.
Mental Health Week
Exercise is a powerful tool for improving mental health and wellbeing, so, in honour of Mental Health Awareness Week, we took part in a live Joe Wicks workout to get our brains and bodies moving!
SATs
And just like that, the SATs are over - Yay! We are so incredibly proud of every Year 6 this week. You all remained calm, took everything in your stride, and gave each paper 110% effort - Well done! You should all be proud of yourselves :)
Show reveal!
After much anticipation, we have now revealed to the children that the Year 6 end-of-year show will be... Matilda the Musical!
From Miss Bailey - The children seem excited and enthusiastic about the show selection, which is wonderful! On Friday, we held auditions in school and I truly was mesmerised by the bravery, confidence and talent we have in Year 6 - They certainly didn't make the audition process easy for the adults! To all of the children who auditioned, and to those who watched, I am beyond proud of your efforts and attitudes on Friday - you were all amazing! I cannot wait to see how the production comes together with this spectacularly talented bunch of individuals!
