This week in Maths, we have continued our unit on place value. We have been looking at dividing and multiplying by multiples of 10. We found this quite tricky and it is something we will continue to work on. We did some fantastic partitioning of numbers where we looking at different ways that we could split numbers up. We have also been looking at number up to 1 million on a number line.
In English, we have made a great start to our Maya narrative unit. We have read a book called the Rain Player. We have generated vocabulary that we will use within our writing and we have gone right back to the basic features of sentence writing to make our writing as accurate as possible. We have also recapped using the correct punctuation for direct speech.
This week we have continued our science unit and testing properties of materials. We used 5 objects and identified if they were transparent, magnetic, permeable and how hard or flexible they were. We especially enjoyed using the magnets! In our PSHE we looked at negative thoughts and how we could reframe these and use positive thinking strategies. We really enjoyed our first music lesson and did some super singing and learnt the difference between rhythm and beat. They will be bringing their ukuleles home around half term but for now we are just focusing more on the theory side of music. We carried on our French and RE too with Mrs Jones and started our computing unit all about online safety where we discussed passwords and app permissions.

In our topic lesson on Friday, we looked at conflict. We thought about why and how the ancient Maya fought. We looked at what they would have worn and some of the weapons that they would have used.
