Another busy week has been had in Puffins. It has been filled with fierce sabre-tooth tigers, partitioning and hunters and gatherers. Read on to find out more.

This week in English we carried on working on features that would help us improve our sentences. We created expanded noun phrases and thought about using our senses to help us describe what life in a stone age cave was like. The children then created expanded noun phrases about different Stone Age creatures. Can you remember any to share with your grown-ups?

In Maths we have carried on with our unit on place value. We have though about partitioning and flexible partitioning. To begin this concept, we used base 10 to help us visualise how we could partition numbers flexibly. Can you explain this True or False question to your grown-ups?

Our RE lesson this week involved us thinking about what trust and faith is. We thought about the people who we trust and why we have faith in them, and what this means to us.

In our Topic lesson, we have begun thinking about the different periods of the Stone Age, and how the people of these times developed to live different and more varied lives. Can you explain to your grown-up how Stone Age people gradually developed their homes and became farmers?

Our Spelling pattern this week focuses on the long I sound. The spelling shed assignment is linked to the spelling list that the children have in their homework diaries. I have also added a Maths Shed quiz linked to the Maths learning that we have been doing this week. These can all be found through your child’s spelling shed account.

The children have been asked to prepare a short speech or presentation if they would like to be considered as our classes School Council or Eco-Council representative. We will carry out the votes on Wednesday 23^rd September. I have told the children that if they don’t feel comfortable presenting their speech I will read it out for them.
