WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

Week Commencing - 21/9/26

Another great week in the Falcon's class this week! We had an exciting sports afternoon on Tuesday at Repton Prep School, as well as trying to fit in all our exciting learning. Look below to find out what we have been up to.

Maths

In our Maths learning, we have been continuing with our work on Place Value to 10000. We started the week by comparing and ordering numbers to 10,000. We then revisited some Year 3 knowledge on Roman Numerals, learning what I, V, X L and C were. We then learned about rounding numbers up/down to the nearest 10.

The homework this week is on comparing numbers, and Roman Numerals. I have set some Maths Shed quizzes on these areas of learning to help consolidate this as well!

Here are some games that also might be helpful as well;

This sheet may also be helpful for the Roman Numerals homework as well!

English

In our English lessons, the children have planned and written their sequels to the Dragon Slayers. I was so impressed with the ideas and creativity of all the children - they worked very hard. The children got feedback and made any adjustments to their writing on Friday, and they are in the process of publishing their books on Monday!

History

In our History learning, we have been learning about Anglo-Saxon roles and childhood. The children learned about the hierarchy of Anglo-Saxon times. Here is the hierarchy to the right. Can you explain to your grown-ups about the roles of each of these groups?

We also learned that in Anglo-Saxon times, children became adults at the age of 10. They then fulfill masculine and feminine roles. Can you remember any of the jobs that each of the boys and girls had to do once they reach the age of 10?

Repton Prep Sports Event

The children had a fantastic afternoon on Tuesday doing some fundamental sport activities with the Repton Prep School. The children did a round-robin of activities to test their fitness skills. This included long-jump, sit and throw, 25m sprint, jumping challenges and speed runs. Afterwards, the children then got the opportunity to pick between hockey, football or netball and to practise their skills with this.

Repton Prep School were phenomenal in organising the activities, and providing transport to and from the school. We are very grateful for hosting us and putting on a great event. Our children behaved beautifully and showed great respect throughout the day. Well done Falcons!

Thank you so much parents for your cooperation in the organisation and collection of children as well.

Here are some pictures below of some of the activities;

Spellings and Homework

This week in our Superhero Spellings, the children learned about the rare and uncommon ways of spelling /igh/ words using the ie digraph and the split y-e digraph.

This week's homework consolidates this work, and the Maths we have looked at this week;

Thank you for returning the Parent Evening slips to me. I have allocated most Parent Evening slots so I should have your appointment time confirmed and back to you by Monday.

Have a lovely weekend!
