WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

W/c 18th November 2024

Another very busy week in Puffins class this week as the children worked hard to complete assessment papers. I am so proud of how hard the children have worked and hope they are equally as proud of themselves!

In English this week we have been taking all of the learning we have been doing about biographies, along with all the research and plans we have completed, to write our own biographies on either Anne Frank or Adolf Hitler. The children have challenged themselves and completed some fantastic pieces of writing.

In Maths, Year 4 have been continuing with their multiplication and division work. They have been looking at the 3 times table and then the 6 times table whilst finding links between the two and continuing to develop their understanding of commutativity. Can you use what you have learnt about the 3 times table to answer this question and explain to your adult what you have learnt?

In Maths, Year 5 have been continuing with their fractions work this week. We have begun to look at how to compare fractions using <, > and =. We continued on to using our multiplication skills to find a common denominator to allow us to compare fractions. We have begun to look at how our times tables support our understanding of fractions. Can you take what you have learnt to answer the true or false questions and explain it to your adult?

Our history lessons have been filled with life stories this week. It has been great that children have been able to share pictures and stories of how their families were involved or effected by the war, thank you for sending these stories in.

We have continued to work on our topic of WWII and have written some fantastic letters this week. The children have used their learning from our class book, our research and learning to plan and write letters as an evacuee child during the war. Everyone has composed a great letter with super understanding shown.

The children have worked incredibly hard this week, completing papers and some fantastic written work and we are all so proud of their focus and determination!

I hope you all have a restful weekend and stay safe in the stormy conditions.

Miss Parry
