Our Learning
We have had another fantastic week in Seals class! It has involved star jumps, album covers, memories and mythical creatures!
English –
We have now moved on to a new unit, newspaper reports. At the beginning of the week, we analysed our model text, focusing on the structural features and language features used in newspaper reports. We looked carefully at speech and its relevance to news articles, distinguishing between direct and indirect (reported) speech. Then, we innovated our model text, changing quotes and witnesses, allowing us to practice writing in the style of a news article, using a formal and factual tone. Today, we created a double-page spread plan in preparation for planning and writing next week.
Maths -
We have already reached the end of our 'converting units' work and have now moved on to our ratio topic. So far this has involved identifying additive and multiplicative relationships, and using ratio language.
History -
In our topic lessons this week, we have learned about ancient Greek beliefs. This has involved learning about mythical creatures, ancient gods and goddesses, and the origins of democracy in ancient Greece. We have created fact files, quizzes and more to showcase our new knowledge!
Homework –
Children have been given a piece of Maths and English homework this week which relates to the learning we have been doing in school. The task has been explained in class, but if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. The best posters will be displayed around school and the classroom!
Homework is due in school on Monday 2nd December 2024.
