Our Learning
It has been yet another busy week in Seals class. It has involved metric measures, macro photography and more!
English –
This week, the children published their discussion texts for our writing wall display. Today, we have been introduced to our next unit of work, which is newspaper reports. Our first lesson of this unit involved reading and comprehending our new model text. Next week, we will look more closely at newspaper reports, identifying features of this text type. It might, therefore, be worthwhile for the children to read a range of newspaper articles this weekend to familiarise themselves with this text type!
Maths -
After completing our maths assessments earlier in the week, we have now moved on to converting units of measure. So far, this has included converting with metric measures and calculating with metric measures.
History -
This week, we have learned about the economy of ancient Greece. We discussed the three main components of their economy (agriculture, trade and slavery) and identified what currency they would use. We discovered that ancient Greek coins were individual to each city-state and displayed important people/events. Using this idea, we each designed a 2024 coin for either Repton, Derby, East Midlands, or the UK!
Homework –
Children have been given a piece of Maths and English homework this week which relates to the learning we have been doing in school. The task has been explained in class, but if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. Children are asked to read at home and practise their spellings/times tables alongside this.
Homework is due in school on Monday 25th November.
