Maths
This week in Maths, we have been looking at complements to 100. The children already know their number bonds to 10 so we were making connections between bonds to 10 and 100.
On Fridays we have been doing arithmetic tests. The children worked really hard at this and tackled challenging questions. I will be sending these home for you to look over with your child and see how they improve each week.
English
This week we have been learning about Frida Kahlo's life. We looked at the different subheadings which we could use to write a biography on her and how we could collect different information on her life. We looked at the different events that happened during her life and the children created their own timelines based off these events. These will be used when they do their hot writes next week.
The children have been very interested in the art that Frida Kahlo created during her life so we spent some time looking at her different paintings. We will recreate these paintings in our art lesson next week.
Science
In Science we have been looking at how fossils are formed. We looked at how we could make connections between our prior learning of rocks and fossils. They could identify how sedimentary rock are formed from fossils. The children were able to order the events of how fossils are formed.
Spellings
We are very excited to perform our Harvest songs at St Wystan's Church. Thank you to all the parents who are accompanying the class there and back. I really appreciate it!
Have a great weekend!
