What a great first week we have had back, Kingfishers! Read below to see what we have been up to this week...
English
In English this week we have started our topic on non-chronological reports. We started the week off by looking at the picture below and discussing what creative sentences we could write about it.
The children came up with some very creative sentences, using fronted adverbial and expanded noun phrases.
Later on in the week we started looking at different creatures which can be found in Arthur Spiderwick’s Field Guide. We discussed what Arthur Spiderwick wrote about the creatures he found in his Field Guide and what makes his writing so intriguing. We worked together as a class to come up with some fantastic ideas on goblins. We used notes from the Field Guide to support our writing.
Maths
This week we have started our perimeter topic. We have been looking at mm, cm and m. We looked at how 1cm= 10mm and used this to work out what different lengths are in mm and cm. Have a look at some reasoning questions be have looked at below:
Geography
This week we have started our geography topic on Iceland. We discussed the different features we would find in Iceland, such as The Blue Lagoon, Geysirs and the Hallgrimskirkja church. We created our own keys for a map on Iceland and studied the different features found on maps.
