Our Learning
We have had yet another busy and exciting week in Seals class! It has involved inventions, recipes and bandages!
English –
This week, we have been planning our finding tales. This has included 'boxing up the text', creating a double page spread of ideas, and producing a structured plan for writing. The children have wonderful imaginations and have planned some very interesting storylines! I look forward to reading their work as they continue to write and edit their finding tales next week.
Maths –
We started our fractions unit of work in Maths this week. So far this has involved simplifying fractions, finding equivalent fractions, showing equivalent fractions on a number line, and comparing and ordering fractions. We will move on to adding and subtracting fractions next week.
History -
This week's history lessons have been based around the Egyptian economy. During our first lesson, the children learned about the power and wealth of the ancient Egyptians, understanding more about their trade links and recognising how goods were bought and sold during this period of time. After obtaining all of this knowledge, the children were tasked with creating their own quiz about the ancient Egyptian economy! In our second lesson, the children discovered facts about ancient Egyptian inventions. After conducting their own research, they each produced a poster to showcase all of the wonderful things that the Egyptians created!
First Aid -
On Thursday, we were fortunate enough to take part in a First Aid training session. The children were taught how to call 999, spot hazards, help someone who is unconscious, use the recovery position, perform CPR and help a person if they are choking. It was a lot to soak in but the children were phenomenal and now have a good understanding of some very important life skills!
Homework –
Children have been given Maths and English homework this week which relates to what we have been learning about in school. The tasks have been explained in class, but if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. Homework is due in school on Monday 21st October.
