What a fantastic first week we've had in Kingfishers! The jump from Year 2 to Year 3 can be a tough one but all the children this week have worked really hard.
Maths
In maths we have started our place value topic. This week we have been looking at numbers from 100-1000. We have looked at partitioning different numbers into hundreds, tens and ones using a place value grid.
English
We have started our English topic this week on setting descriptions. Our book is 'Stone Age Boy' by Satoshi Kitamura. This week we have looked at the structure of the story, identifying the beginning, problem, resolution and ending. We have also been working on our writing skills, looking at how we can use expanded noun phrases to add more detail to our writing.
History
In history, we have started our topic on the Stone Age. We have looked at the different lifestyles seen in the Palaeolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic periods.
