Maths
We spent the week looking at equivalent fractions and how we can work these out. We came up with the catch phrase "whatever we do to the denominator, we do the numerator" to help us remember the method. We then used fraction pieces to show our working out. The children were given a fraction and they had to make an equivalent fraction.
English
This week we finished our topic on The Enormous Crocodile and the children completed their assessed write on their own clever trick. There were some really good pieces of writing completed.
The aimed to complete all of these in their writing. They included some really good expanded noun phrases in their writing, such as 'green, scaly body' and 'white, beady eyes.' There were also some fantastic powerful verbs in their writing.
Geography
This week we looked at the different energy used in Iceland. We looked at geothermal energy and how this is created. We discussed how geothermal energy can only be created if that place is on fault lines between tectonic plates. We looked at how geothermal energy heats places in Iceland, such as The Blue Lagoon.
The children then created their own models of dioramas which were fantastic! The children labelled these and presented them to the class. Have a look below to see what these looked like...
