What a busy final week of the half term we have had! It has consisted of singing, mask making and newspaper reporting. Read on to find out more…
In Maths this week Year 4 have been working on subtracting numbers with exchanging as well as estimating answers. They have used their knowledge of place value to help with this. Can you explain this True or False question to your grown up?
Year 5 have been looking at prime numbers and square numbers. We thought about how we know they are square numbers and what the factors of a prime number are. Can you explain this True or False question to your grown up?
In English we have finished our Newspaper Reports detailing Dr Diane’s exciting discovery of a Maya toy. We used the techniques that we had learnt about throughout this unit, including reported and direct speech as well as using description to add detail to our writing.
We have finished off our Maya topic by decorating our Maya masks. The children used the inspiration of Maya rituals and beliefs to inspire their designs, they had a wonderful time creating them as well. Have a look at the photos of us creating them below.
Monday saw us venture to the Church to sing our Harvest song ‘Harvest Samba’. Thank you for all of your very kind donations of food, these will be greatly appreciated.
The children have received spelling and Maths homework this week. If you could continue to read and practice times tables this week this would be very helpful.
Thank you.
Have a lovely half term.
Stay safe
