Maths
This week in Maths we have been started our unit on Place Value. The children are fantastic at recognising the amount of tens and ones within a number! Mr Armishaw clearly did a fantastic job at teaching them this last year. We worked practically using a range of concrete resources to represent two-digit numbers in different ways.
English
In English, we have been looking at a book called Rainbow of Emotions. This was to help introduce the children to the Zones of Regulation, which is a new emotional regulation support system that we will be using in school. More information to follow about this at the Meet the Teacher Meeting next Friday (12.9.25). Lessons saw children recap basic sentence writing skills to refresh out Year 1 knowledge and to get back into the routine of English lessons after having six weeks off!
Spelling and Phonics
This week has been a bit of an induction week for the children where we have practiced rules, routines and gone through expectations. We have been introducing more lessons as each day has gone by and we have also had our Zones of Regulation system to introduce. Therefore, we have not yet properly started phonics lessons in Year 2, hence the weekly spellings not being sent out yet. They will go out next Friday (15.9.25)
